Job experience


Job experience refers to how long a person have worked in a certain field or job, it is also known as work experience. The experience is one of required qualifications in most of jobs, other qualifications may include skills, knowledge and abilities. Your experience shows the employers how ready you are for a job, thus, having a high level of experience in a specific job may increase the possibility of being hired for that job.

Some ways that can help you to gain job experience are through internship, volunteering, job shadowing as well as job tours and visits.

  • Internship: It is a program prepared by organization through which employees or students work (usually without pay) to gain experience within a certain job.
  • Volunteering: This is an act of willing to work for a company without being paid salary. You work as a volunteer while you gain job experience. 
  • Job shadowing: This is an act of learning through observing what other employees do at workplace. This way can help you to gain job experience through observations. 
  • Job tours and visiting: You can also learn and gain experience through visiting a workplace.
