A Cockroach can live one week without a head

Cockroach is an insect which has three pairs of legs, its body has divided into three parts which are head, thorax and abdomen, just like many other insects. Cockroaches are usually found at home, restaurants, toilets etc.

Something you might not know about a cockroach is that it can live up to one week or more without it's head.

WHY DO COCKROACHES LIVE LONGER WITHOUT THEIR HEADS?

1. They do not use nose to breath the air but they use small holes found in their body known as spiracles. Therefore cutting off their heads can't stop them to breath.

2. They have an open circulatory system which support their blood to flow freely without blood vessels in their bodies. Therefore blood will not spilled out from their bodies when their heads are removed because there is no blood vessels to direct out the blood through the wound or the affect part.

3. They can live for more than one week without food and water this makes them live longer even though their heads are off.
