1. Block contacts
The first easy option you can do to hide your status from being visible to some contacts is to block the contacts you would not like them to see your status. But remember if you block some one, that person will not be able to send you a message or call you on WhatsApp until you unblock him/her.To Block someone on WhatsApp follow below steps.
1) Open your WhatsApp, click on three dots at the top.
2) Select setting > Account > Privacy > Blocked contacts > Add new contact.
3) Add a contact(s) you want to block.

3) Select block contact > block.

Click "Only share with.." to enable the contacts you would like them to view your WhatsApp statuses. Select the contacts then click a tick to finish selection, click "done".
