The South African government passed the law that requires all SIM cards to be registered to RICA. This law was introduced in 1 July 2009 though RICA was in act since January 2003. Every SIM user in South Africa has to register his or her SIM card(s) so as to be activated, the process requires a user to submit personal details and other required information like a copy of RSA ID or passport and and a copy of proof of residence.

MTN has simplified the registration process as users can register their SIM cards online at home without visiting a store, this process is known as "self-RICA". This post is going to list the required information and show how to self-RICA MTN SIM card(s) step by step.
