Did you know that snails can sleep for three years?

A snail

While human beings sleep for about 8 to 12 hours, snails can stay asleep in their shells for almost three (3) years straight, this process is known as torpor. Actually, this is not a sleeping for resting and refreshing the body as human beings and other creatures usually do, but to keep the moisture in their body when the weather is too hot. Snails needs moisture to survive, thus in hot season they hide their body in the shells to prevent their body's moist from drying out.
