It is alleged that 71% percent of the earth surface is covered by water while the rest is covered by land. Oceans hold about 97% percent of all water in the earth while 3% of earth's water is from rivers, lakes and underground water.

There are five (5) major oceans in the world named Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific and Southern ocean. These oceans are connected together to form a single water body which cover the entire earth.

Although oceans are connected together to cover the entire world, Atlantic and Pacific ocean meet but they don't mix their water.

Atlantic and Pacific ocean meeting point

Why Atlantic and Pacific water do not mix?
Atlantic and Pacific ocean do not mix water because of the difference in density, temperature and salinity between Atlantic and Pacific water. These differences make the two oceans unable to mix their water and make them looks divided in two different parts with different colours.
